Challenging Conversations

In an effort to enhance communication skills and empower individuals in the region, Regional Development Australia Limestone Coast (RDALC) recently hosted two dynamic 3-hour workshops in mastering challenging conversations. Tailored for both professional and personal situations, the workshops were held on Wednesday 15 November, at the Wulanda Recreation Centre in Mount Gambier. The workshops drew 73 enthusiastic participants from diverse sector across the Limestone Coast.

The engaging sessions, delivered by a local facilitator, covered a range of topics including effective listening, understanding communication styles and barriers, and conflict resolution.

The session is part of a series of initiatives supported by the State Government’s Regional Workforce Connector and Collaboration Program, designed to address workforce gaps and support Limestone Coast businesses in their journey to become employers of choice.

Some of the feedback received confirms the importance of these workshops with participants saying, ‘one of the best sessions I’ve been to lately,’ and another saying, ‘I think we can’t hear this content enough. Excellent presentation.’

David Wheaton, CEO of RDALC, emphasised the importance of these skills, stating, ‘The popularity of the workshops, and the feedback received, highlights the importance of enhancing communication skills for professional development and growth in the workplace.
