Destination Management Plan to Shape the Future of Limestone Coast Tourism

The future direction of tourism in the Limestone Coast will be officially unveiled on Wednesday 21 October 2026, with the launch of the region’s new Destination Management Plan at the World Heritage-listed Naracoorte Caves and Wonambi Fossil Centre.

Regional Development Australia Limestone Coast (RDALC), the region’s Regional Tourism Organisation, will officially launch the Limestone Coast Destination Management Plan on Wednesday 21 October 2026 at the Naracoorte Caves and Wonambi Fossil Centre.

The launch will bring together tourism operators, industry representatives, community leaders, local government, Members of Parliament and the media to mark an important new chapter for tourism across the Limestone Coast.

South Australian Tourism Commission Chief Executive Officer Emma Terry will attend the launch, alongside representatives from across the region.

The Destination Management Plan will provide a shared direction for the Limestone Coast visitor economy, identifying priorities and opportunities to strengthen the region as a destination, support tourism businesses and communities, and encourage visitors to explore more of the Limestone Coast and stay longer.

RDALC Interim Chief Executive Officer Sarah Philpott said the launch represented an important step in bringing industry and the region together around a clear vision for tourism, and acknowledged the work of the former Regional Tourism Organisation, the Limestone Coast Local Government Association on developing the Plan.

“The Limestone Coast has an extraordinary depth of experiences, stories, landscapes and people. This Plan gives us a shared direction for how we build on those strengths and grow tourism in a way that delivers lasting benefits for our businesses, communities and region.

“Importantly, it will guide where we focus our efforts, how we work with industry and government, and how we position the Limestone Coast for the opportunities ahead. ”South Australian Tourism Commission Chief Executive Officer Emma Terry said “The Limestone Coast is an important part of South Australia’s visitor economy, offering a distinctive combination of nature, food and wine, cultural heritage and regional experiences”.

“A strong Destination Management Plan provides the foundation for industry, government and communities to work together, identify opportunities and support sustainable tourism growth across the region.”

The launch is open to tourism businesses and organisations from across the Limestone Coast and neighbouring cross-border communities, as well as government representatives, media and the broader community.

Hosting the event at the World Heritage-listed Naracoorte Caves provides a fitting setting to celebrate the region’s tourism strengths while looking ahead to its next chapter.
